Why we publish this

US readers are covered by the Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guides, which require a clear and conspicuous disclosure of a material connection — such as commission — close to the recommendation it affects. The site's owner is UK-resident, so UK advertising rules under the CAP Code, enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority, apply as well: commercial content must be obviously identifiable as commercial, and the Competition and Markets Authority enforces the UK consumer protection law behind that duty. We would publish this anyway, because a reader deciding how much weight to give our recommendation is entitled to know how we are paid.
